Crimson Core Guides - Gym Reruns
What is Gym Rerunning?
Once you have beaten a region's Elite Four, you unlock the ability to rematch that region's gym leaders. Each gym has an 18-hour cooldown, and all rematches are fought as 6v6 double battles with gym leaders at Level 80. This changes everything about team building. the meta revolves around AoE (spread) moves that hit both opponents at once.
The standard core for nearly every strategy is a sacrificial lead duo: Cottonee/Whimsicott (Prankster + Tailwind for priority speed boost) and Torkoal (Drought sets sun, then Explosion). The gym leader KOs both on turn 1, your sweepers come in under sun + Tailwind, and Eruption or Water Spout clears the enemy team.
Why Gym Rerun?
Reliable daily income, predictable difficulty, and no market dependence. Great for funding breeding, PvP teams, shiny hunting, and long-term projects.
Unlock & Cooldown
Unlock rematches after beating each region's Elite Four. Each gym leader has an 18-hour cooldown. You also need to defeat 5 other trainers before a rematch activates.
What You Earn
Pokéyen (~8,600-9,300 per gym), EXP, EVs, and item drops. Some routes leave a free slot to level a 6th Pokemon passively for extra income.
Double Battle Rules
Eruption and Water Spout hit BOTH opponents. In doubles, spread moves lose 25% power per target. but that's still two KOs per turn. AoE is king.
Team Quality Matters
Better teams mean faster clears. The advanced strategies (6 Pillars, TTET) require very specific IVs and are hard to breed, but pay themselves back quickly.
Best Possible Run
An optimal run clears around 25 gyms, 4 rich trainers, and Morimoto in 1 hour. Not all 40 gyms are worth doing every session. low-payout or risky matchups are skipped based on your team.
When to Start & What Charms to Use
Start gym rerunning as soon as you've cleared your first Elite Four and have a team that can handle rematches. Most new players begin with Double Typhlosion and upgrade once they've saved up for a more advanced team.
When to Start
- After beating your first Elite Four.
- When you have a stable rerun team (even budget).
- When you can spare ~1 hour per session.
- Once you're comfortable flying around regions quickly.

Gym Rerun Guides
Double Typhlosion is the community's most recommended entry point for gym rerunning. It's extremely cheap (~300k from scratch including items), doesn't require a lot of mental effort, and gives a consistent 20-21 gyms to safely run per session. The low barrier to entry makes it the go-to before upgrading to an advanced team. Out of ~41 possible gyms, roughly 21 are safe to run with this setup.

Tips
- Amulet Coin (+50%) is the best charm for this team, you won't hit 23+ gyms per run at the start.
- Use an Exp. Amplifier on slot 6 to level things passively while running.
- Once you've saved ~1.5m, consider upgrading to the Prehistoric 5 or a 6 Pillars project.
- Heatran is NOT worth adding here, the consensus is it barely improves efficiency for the extra cost.
The Prehistoric 5 (also called JinxedBoon's 5-Man Archeops team) is a mid-tier strategy that balances good income with the ability to passively level a 6th Pokemon during runs. The "Prehistoric" theme comes from the fossil/ancient Pokemon core: Archeops (fossil), Torkoal (ancient turtle), Heatran, and two Typhlosions under Sun. However, this team is outclassed by Double Typhlosion in raw cost-efficiency. Double Typhlosion is cheaper and produces more consistent runs per hour.

Guide & Notes
7 Hells is one of the newest strategies to pop up (December 2025). and widely considered one of the best. The rules are simple: no heals within any region, no item swaps, and a pure "Gigaspam A" (hold A / spam attack) approach. Because you rarely need to check a reference mid-run, it's especially powerful on multiple devices simultaneously.

Guide & Notes
Tempest Explosion (TTET) is an elite strategy developed by a player who holds several PokeMMO gym run world records. including the first player to clear 27, 28, and 31 gyms in a single run. At ~590k gross revenue, it's among the highest-earning routes available. Note that 590k is gross (before charm and supply costs).

Guide & Notes
The 6 Pillars is one of the most advanced gym rerun strategies in PokeMMO. It's designed to clear most gyms within 3 turns using very specific EV/IV spreads. some Pokemon need intentionally low IVs so they take the right amount of damage from Weezing's Explosion. Requires all 5 regions completed and strong breeding knowledge. The "6 pillars" refers to the six core team members.
