💡 What is Trainer Rerunning?
Trainer rerunning is the practice of rematching specific NPC trainers across all five regions on a
6-hour cooldown for consistent daily Pokéyen income. With 6-hour refreshes, you can
run the same route up to 4 times per day. Most players do 1–2 full runs per day
and supplement with gym reruns.
Unlike gym reruns (18h cooldown, doubles), trainer rematches are singles battles
that reset every 6 hours. The goal is to sweep every trainer as fast as possible, one-shotting
everything with minimal healing stops.
🔓Unlock requirement: Before any trainer can be rematched, you must defeat
5 other eligible trainers first. The cooldown timer starts the moment you win.
If your route has 6 or more trainers, you naturally meet this requirement every run, no extra
steps needed.
⏱️
6h Cooldown, 4 Runs/Day
Trainers reset every 6 hours, not 24. Run Unova in the morning, swing back after work, and get two more runs before bed. Managing cooldowns across alts doubles your income further.
🪙
Amulet Coin is a Consumable
It activates from your inventory, not as a held item. It lasts 1 hour and costs ~14,000 on the GTL. Activate it right before your first battle, not before you start walking.
🚫
Boosters Don't Stack
Amulet Coin (×1.5), Riches Charm 75% (×1.75) and Riches Charm 100% (×2.0) do not stack with each other. Pick one per run based on how many trainers you're fighting.
🔗
Free Link Bonus
Playing in a party gives a free ×1.1 Link Bonus that stacks independently with your chosen money booster. Running trainer reruns with a friend or second account adds a flat 10% on top.
🐚
Cloyster + Skill Link
Icicle Spear hits 5 times, breaking Sturdy in a single turn and OHKOing almost everything. PP Max it to 48 uses. This is the most efficient sweeper for trainer runs, not a flashy special attacker.
🗺️
Hoenn Pays Best Per Hour
Hoenn has the highest base payout of any single region (~110k base, ~165k with Amulet Coin). Sinnoh is second at ~99k. Unova is fastest at ~12 minutes but lowest total.
🐚 Best Pokemon for Trainer Reruns
All three are Ice-type attackers that cover the widest spread of trainer Pokemon across all five regions. Pick one as your primary sweeper and build around it.

Icicle Spear ★Rock BlastShell SmashIce Shard
The core of any trainer rerun team. Skill Link makes Icicle Spear always hit 5 times, breaking Sturdy in a single turn and OHKOing almost everything in the game. PP Max Icicle Spear to 24 PP before long runs. Rock Blast handles Rock and Steel types that resist Ice.
Icicle Crash pairs with Earthquake to cover types Cloyster cannot handle cleanly, particularly Fire, Electric, Rock, Steel, and Poison. Thick Fat halves damage from Fire and Ice moves, making Mamoswine durable through long routes. A reliable physical powerhouse behind Cloyster.
Mixed attacker that hits physical and special walls. Icicle Spear triggers Coalescence for item drops and must be PP Maxed. Air Slash handles bulky Fighting and Grass types with a 30% flinch chance. Ice Shard picks off weakened targets, Water Pulse covers Fire and Rock.
Consumables to carry: 3x Super Repel (avoid wild encounters), 2x Antidote, 1x Burn Heal, Defog Ocarina (for Sinnoh Route 210).

Fastest region by far at around 12 minutes. Ideal to squeeze in between other runs or as a standalone quick session. Start at Opelucid City — Shopping Mall is west, Route 10 is north, then finish at Undella Town north for Route 13. Morimoto and Cynthia both have 18h cooldowns, keep them separate from your 6h route.

Highest payout of any single region. Surf and Waterfall required for Meteor Falls. Many trainers scattered across routes, so efficient Fly planning matters. Route 104 has the Rich Boy + Lady priority pair. Route 121 has the Gentleman high-payer. Start at Rustboro and work your way through.

⭐ Route 212, Best Sinnoh cluster✈ Fly: Pastoria City, walk west
Johto has lower individual payouts compared to Hoenn, Sinnoh, and Kanto. Earlier routes have lower-level Pokémon. It's still worth running since it takes only 40 minutes, but it makes the most sense combined with the other four regions rather than as a standalone run. Good entry-level route for newer players.

💡 Tips & Common Mistakes
01
Activate the Amulet Coin at the right moment
Use it from your inventory right before your first battle, not while walking to trainers. Every second it's active while you're flying or running is wasted. It lasts 1 hour, start it at the door.
02
PP Max Icicle Spear before long runs
Cloyster's Icicle Spear has 15 base PP, PP Max it to 24 PP, giving 24 × 5 = 120 total hits. For a full all-region run you will run out otherwise and waste time at a Pokémon Center mid-route.
03
Carry Super Repels
Long route sections like Routes 9&10 (Kanto) and Route 228 (Sinnoh) are dense with wild encounters. Super Repels are cheap and save significant time, bring at least 3 per full run.
04
Use a second character for double runs
Trainer cooldowns are per-character. A second account running the same route means you can do the full circuit while your main is on cooldown, effectively doubling daily income with the same time investment.
05
Plan heals at key city stops
Don't fly all the way back to a Pokémon Center mid-run. Heal at Veilstone (Sinnoh), Vermilion (Kanto), and the Fight Area (post-League Sinnoh). Plan your Fly stops around natural heal points.
06
You need 5 prior wins to unlock each rematch
The cooldown countdown only starts after the battle. If your route has 6+ trainers you naturally meet the 5-win requirement, but on a short first-ever run on a new character, you may need to fight a few extras first.
