Crimson Core Hide & Seek - Event Recap

On July 18th, MastAbhi hosted a Hide & Seek event for members of Crimson Core and The Academy, bringing players together across multiple regions for a fast paced, beginner friendly competition. What started as a simple idea quickly turned into a lively team activity filled with clever hiding spots, quick reactions, and plenty of memorable moments.

To capture the full spirit of the event, we caught up with the host, the winner, and the runner up to hear their perspectives on how the day unfolded.

🎤 Host Interview

MastAbhi
Event Host

"First of all thanks for having me on board, I'd like to give a shoutout to our Leader HeavyBreathing. He was the one who helped me announce and manage the whole event!"

What inspired you to host this Hide and Seek event for the team?
"TBH, I'm fond of money making but I don't like hoarding everything to myself, sharing the joy (although the rewards weren't anything extraordinary) is so much fun! It was initially my thought process to help the newer players, with both team engagement and some mons that can genuinely help them!"
How did you decide on the locations and regions for each round?
"I had prepared a list of unique and kinda fun locations beforehand, around 30 or so.....And I just went with the flow, I altered locations between regions so that players who only have specific regions unlocked can also join and enjoy!"
What’s the most memorable moment to you, from this event?
"The most memorable moments, hmm.....I can think of 2 rn, one being people following me to the region changer ship after every round so that they can try figure out the region for the next round, and second of all in the last round, I gave almost no clue, with the SS being the size of a popcorn and people started going crazy, it really was fun to watch....And that thing also was our leader's idea lol"

How did you balance making the event challenging but still fun for everyone?
"So we had 15 rounds in total, and I decided to keep the first 10 rounds relatively easy to find, so that beginners don't feel left out....And the 5 were somewhat difficult, with the details in the screenshot going down every round! I tried to include each and every imp location in every region, so people can't just guess, and actually take time to reach me!"
If you had to give one tip to new players joining this type of event, what would it be??
"“Hmm, if I had to give a tip with regards to the event, I'd say complete all the regions as soon as possible, as all the fun starts after that!"
How much planning went into the event?
"To be very honest, I'm not the kind of person who plans things, I just hopped in, gave out the first location....And then did everything with the flow....Planning things isn't my thing, the list I had for locations was random as well!"
What was the hardest part about hosting?
"Okay, so I wanna mention both the easy and the hard part! The easy part being, the community is so great, and well managed thanks to our Leader, officers, and core members that hosting this event felt like a cake walk. The hard part being that there are people from all over the world and with different timezones....So it was very difficult to host it at the perfect time, that can let every member join the event and have loads of fun!”
How do you think hide and seek helps bring the team together?
"This event is very beginner friendly, since you don't need any specific pokemon or any type of investment.....So even players with little game knowledge try to join and have fun finding me! And, this also increases the engagement from their side a bit, asking questions, exploring new things and routes really helps bring the team together I believe!"

Are there any last words you’d like to share with the participants or the wider community?
“My last words to the community would be, I'll always keep hosting new and fun events (at least try to), sharing anything with your people is always the best feeling, try it!

Lastly, thanks to HeavyBreathing and everyone else who helped me host this small event with ease, it was so much fun for me aswell! I appreciate the interviewer, UnstableTy, as well for this amazing questionnaire! I'll see you all in the next event! Peace"
MastAbhi's reflections reveal how a simple event, carried by generosity and fun, can spark engagement, strengthen team bonds, and remind us why team events matter. This Hide & Seek was not just about finding him. It was about finding connection.

How did it feel when you realized you’d won the Hide and Seek event?
"At the start of the event, I was in the middle of a trainer rerun and didn't even realize it was on until I saw the notification on Discord. I joined in because I thought it'd be fun , and it definitely was. It wasn't until the second-to-last round that I realized I actually had a chance of winning. Even then, I didn't know what the prize was, I was just enjoying the event. When I found out I'd won, my main reaction was surprise. I really wasn't expecting it!"
Was there a particular round that stood out as the hardest or most memorable?
"The most memorable round for me was when MastAbhi was hiding in the train station in Unova. I recognized a sign that was in the Battle Point shop, so I flew there straight away and started making my way to the location. LexieKawaii was just ahead of me, but she got stopped by an NPC at the entrance. I could have run past and won the round, but it didn't feel right, so I stopped to give her the chance to get there first. Before either of us could reach the host, another competitor beat us both to it! I just remember laughing at the whole situation, it was one of those moments that made the event so much fun.”"

Did you notice any patterns in how the host chose hiding spots as the event went on?
“I didn't really notice any patterns in the host's hiding spots. I think what helped me more was that I've played through the storylines so many times that I know the different regions really well. That familiarity made it easier to recognize locations from the clues. Even then, there were still a few rounds that completely caught me off guard, which kept the event interesting."
Which region or area do you think gave you the biggest challenge?
"There were a few situations that were difficult, but I'd say any hiding spot inside houses was the biggest challenge. A lot of the house interiors look almost identical, so unless there was a really distinctive clue, it could be hard to tell which one you were supposed to be looking for. Those rounds definitely tested my memory more than any particular region."
How do you think events like this help strengthen the Crimson Core community?
“I think events like this bring the team together. They're a fun break from the usual grind, give everyone a chance to interact, and help newer members feel more involved within the teams. That's exactly what we strive for as a Community."

Would you compete in this type of event again?
"Absolutely! I had a lot of fun taking part, and I'd definitely join again. It's a great way to spend time with the team, and now that I know what to expect, I'll be looking forward to the next one."
What prize did you get for placing first, and how did you enjoy it?
"As I mentioned earlier, I didn't even know there was a prize when I joined the event. When MastAbhi contacted me to ask what I'd like, I honestly had no idea what to choose. Since Charizard is my favourite Pokémon, and I knew MastAbhi was thinking about egging for a shiny zard, I asked for a physical attacking zard. I didn't have one myself, and it also gave MastAbhi the opportunity to potentially hatch a shiny for himself, so it felt like a win-win."
Any shoutouts or final words for the host or the team?
"I'd just like to say a big thank you to MastAbhi for organizing the event and to everyone who took part. It was a lot of fun, and you could tell a lot of effort went into making it enjoyable for everyone. This is exactly the kind of event that brings everyone together. Whether you're in the Academy or Core, we're all Crimson. I'm looking forward to seeing what events Crimson Core comes up with next!"
BraggingKnight reminds us that winning is not just about speed or skill. It is about camaraderie, shared laughs, and the moments that make community events memorable.
🥈 Runner Up Interview

LexieKawaii
2nd Place
What was your overall strategy for tracking the host’s hiding spots?
"I am familiar with the maps, so even when the screenshot was small I could recognise the background and floor patterns to figure out where the host was hiding."
Which round do you think was the toughest or most frustrating?
"I was not really frustrated. I just want players to get prizes even if they do not win or cannot join every round. Some people get frustrated because they want rewards, but I am different. I just want everyone to enjoy."
What kind of events do you enjoy the most?
"Hide and Seek and photo guess Kahoot are my favourite events. I like events that are really made for the players and let everyone join in."
Would you compete in this type of event again?
"I would like to host an event someday. I want more players to get good prizes so they can be happy. Players should finish all regions so they can join fully. I would even give rewards to people who place 5th to 10th just to support them."
Even as runner up, Lexie stayed focused on making sure everyone else had fun. That is her whole charm.
🎉 Thank You to Everyone Who Took Part

The Crimson Core Hide & Seek was everything a community event should be. Fifteen rounds across multiple regions, a host who gave everything with zero preparation and all heart, a winner who did not even realise he was competing until halfway through, and a runner up who spent the whole event hoping everyone else was having a good time. That is Crimson Core.

A huge thank you to MastAbhi for hosting and bringing such a generous and fun spirited event to the community and thank you to every single member who jumped in, explored a new route, got lost in an identical looking house, and kept coming back for the next round. Events like this only work because of you.

We hope to see many more Hide & Seek events in the future. Until then, make sure you have every region unlocked.
